Dr. Amy Moors is an experienced consultant, engaging public speaker, and highly regarded expert witness. She applies her 15 years of research, teaching, and science communication experience to provide people with the knowledge, details, and insights they need.

Consulting & Evaluation

Amy uses interviews, focus groups, and surveys to help organizations understand their audiences, and has led large-scale research projects on non-monogamous communities. She also has extensive experience evaluating academic programs and workplace climates from her roles at major universities.

Amy provides expert testimony and consulting on legal cases involving non-traditional relationships, drawing on her background as a personality-social psychologist and sexuality researcher. She produces reports and testimony but does not perform clinical evaluations.

Consulting & Evaluation

Amy has expertise in interview, focus group, and survey methods and has worked with non-profits and companies to better understand their target audiences. As a recent example, Amy led the annual Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-monogamy community survey, a collaboration with Multiamory and Feeld, that examined relationship practices, stigma, and dating experiences among nearly 6,000 people who identify as non-monogamous.

Amy also has nearly a decade of experience conducting academic workplace climate and program evaluations (e.g., bridge programs, summer research experiences). Prior to joining the faculty at Chapman, she served as the Director of Social Science Research and Evaluation in the College of Engineering at Purdue University and a researcher at the University of Michigan’s ADVANCE Program.

Speaking

Amy brings her passion for science, humor, and expertise as a liberal arts college professor to each speaking event. Amy has delivered over 100 talks to students and faculty at universities (e.g., UCLA, Tulane University), employees at corporations (e.g., Microsoft, Fortive), and researchers and clinicians at conferences (e.g., Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, Society for Sex Therapy and Research). Amy is skilled at delivering engaging talks to large audiences and at developing longer-form, interactive educational workshops.

Expert Witness

Amy is one of the leading researchers on non-traditional relationships and family structures, including polyamory, swinging, and open relationships. Given this background, she has served as an expert witness and provided consulting on legal cases related to her expertise. Amy is a personality-social psychologist and sexuality theorist, and can deliver testimony and written reports on cases; she does not conduct clinical assessments.
